A barber's job is never done !

Since my last post, the momentum of the shop has definitely picked up and it has been nothing short of AMAZING! I'd like to thank everyone that has come in and not only gotten a haircut, but has also bought merchandise and product! These extra little purchases really go a long way for this one chair traditional shop. It keeps the machine oiled and running smooth and I am more than grateful to have the clientele I have.

I recently traveled back up to my old stomping grounds of Denton,Tx to visit and take care of the people who continue to take care of me, even hours away. After moving back home from North Texas, I was continuously asked about when I would be returning. Quite honestly, I didnt have the slightest clue either, but I made the trek and was welcomed as if I had never left. Because of the response I recieved from my clientele up north, I will most likely be making trips to try and take care of clientele as best as I can. Not only does this keep me connected with everyone who has helped me build my career thus far, it helps me build my brand in two cities and across Texas.

Upon my return from North Texas, the Tonsorium was given a proper welcome by the Harlingen Chamber of commerce, and was thrown a ribbon cutting ceremony. Opening a shop in my hometown is already a surreal feeling, but being welcomed BY my hometown and its representatives really hightened that feeling in the best possible way. There's always a rewarding feeling when you are able to give back to your community, and now, being alongside the chamber, I am hopeful that we can give back in many ways and in big ways as well.

Just a couple days after the ribbon cutting ceremony, Back Alley teamed up with Vivid Promotional and Branding Products to give thanks to our veterans on Veteran's day. VPBP was generous enough to sponsor free haircuts for our veterans. With only a week to plan and get the word out, we had our work cut out for us. When there's a will, there's a way and needless to say, we got the job done! It was a great turn out, and great promotion for the shop and VPBP. We are already shooting to do it agin next year and have more time to plan and be able to really show more thanks and gratitude to our local veterans.

The next thing that Back Alley has going on is already in effect! The Tonsorium is currently holding a clothing drive for the residents of the Rio Grande State Center for the rest of this month and next next month. The RGSC is a state facility that provides service for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Although a lot of us have been able to continue to live a somewhat "normal" life and be able to get out of the house and do day to day things during this time, the residents at the RGSC have not been as fortunate. They've not been able to see their families, or go on outings into the community like they usually would. I started this clothing drive in hopes to bring a bit of cheer for the residents this season. If you have any old clothes, old working radios laying around, please consider donating. We're also needing newly purchased socks and undergarments, as well as newly purchased hygiene products. If you can help out, you can drop off donations at Back Alley Tonsorium, 1837 W Tyler Ave Harlingen, Tx 78550.

Last but not least, let me remind ya'll that holiday shopping does NOT have to be hard. Give that special someone a gift of freshness!!! Back Alley Tonsorium has gift cards available for purchase! Pick from any service listed on the website and come on by the shop to pick one up! It's THAT easy! There has been a couple of additions to the web store. The first of many Back Alley Tonsorium t shirts are up for pre order on the website. Tip Top Pomade is fully restocked again and available for purchase on the website as well. If any of these things are something you might be interested in, I am offering in store pick up or I can ship out to you.

Once again, thank you all so much for all of the support. I want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving filled with good food and great people. Please be safe if you are getting together with family, and WEAR A MASK !!!
